The Junkluggers of Greater San Jose Case Studies: Sunnyvale, CA Piano Removal Services
Challenge
The Junkluggers of Greater San Jose were challenged to remove a 400 lb Baby Grand Piano from a customer who was out of town and was trying to coordinate the entire removal with a friend and roommate. The piano was in pristine condition and we wanted to make sure that we safely remove the piano without damaging the home from the second floor.
Secondly, there was a long walk to the closest truck parking location. Our team had to safely lift the 400 lb piano and load it into our truck and then unload it for drop off.
Solution
To prepare for the move, our team brought moving blankets and power tools. We first closed the piano cover and started removing the legs one at a time. We then stood the piano vertically on the opposite side of the keys. The entire piano was wrapped in multiple blankets.
We then lifted the piano with 4 people and loaded it on a small cart. We then used the dolly to support and moved it carefully on the stairs. Once we were able to bring the piano down through the stairs, we just had to move it through the door.
The distance from the home to the truck was far but with the use of dolly and cart we were able to manage to take it fairly easily. The next challenge was to lift the piano and load it into the truck. We tied the bungee ropes around the dolly and lifted the piano with 3 people on the ground and one in the truck. We collected all the legs and screws and wrapped them in the moving blanket.
Our team drove the truck to our charity partner and where we unloaded the piano tied to the dolly easily. Our team then took the piano inside and started assembling the parts we removed during the move. Once all the legs were installed, we then tipped it to the sitting position so it can be utilized. We brought the piano bench back. The manager of HOPE thrift was grateful for our donation and thanked us for giving it to a good cause. His video testimonial can be seen in our video section. He gave us the receipt of the donation which we emailed to the customer.
The entire process was completed in the absence of the customer with the coordination from the call center to our team and local contacts.
Another interesting piece James (manager at HOPE) told us was a professional piano player came and everyone was enjoying the music. There had many interested customers.
